NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT THE
Emotional Side Effects
Adventure Therapy Foundation is a nonprofit that exists to minimize the isolation, fear and broken identity in families impacted by cancer. Through cancer coaching and retreats we encourage families to confront those emotional side effects of cancer and engage in meaningful experiences together. Our goal is to break destructive cycles cancer can create for individuals and their families and friends.
FEATURED FAMILY
Drew
There’s no good age to be diagnosed with cancer, but there is something especially hard about a child getting diagnosed with cancer. Drew was diagnosed at the age of 13 with an aggressive form of cancer. Drew’s story doesn’t end with the diagnosis, this young man is a survivor and we were honored to send him and his family on a trip to Hawaii.

“My family and I are returning from a sweet little trip. We went on several hikes and to the aquarium in Chattanooga. Actually, this is the first family vacation we have ever went on, just the five of us. It was special. I know how blessed I am to be doing as well as I am doing after facing cancer. Trips like this inspire me to love life to the fullest no matter what! Thank you again Adventure Therapy Foundation!”

Donna
“You know Yosemite never disappoints! Been recovering the last couple of days, but finally feeling more normal today. I really pushed myself probably more than I should and made it to the top of Nevada Fall. I also haven’t been to Glacier Point in decades. I don’t remember the view being so epic. I probably didn’t appreciate nature in life as much as the last time I was there. Thank you!”

Marcy
“We had the BEST time. 4th of July is a great time to be there. Three separate fireworks shows!! We went to the caverns which were so awesome. Thank you for this. It’s such a sweet spot on the mountain and a beautiful little home. Thank you!”

Corinne
“The retreat came a few weeks after I completed chemotherapy as my body was trying to recover and my mind was trying to prepare for the bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal that would follow. We consider ourselves outdoorsy people, but chemo was really tough on my body. The location made for easy travel we were able to watch movies, read books, cook meals, and reconnect. Thank you Adventure Therapy!”
